Sutton 40 KTC Extensive Straightener Modernization
SMS group US is thrilled to announce an extensive modernization of the Sutton 40 KTC Straightener, featuring a complete rebuild of the machine from the ground up, excluding only the middle frame. Key upgrades include a new motorized middle roll power angling unit, a state-of-the-art load cell system for precise middle roll bending force measurement, and four upgraded pivoting arm assemblies with new anti-backlash devices. The modernization also encompasses new entry and exit auto angling systems and redesigned roll brackets for drive, idle, and middle rolls, boasting enhanced bearing protection Viton sealings. Preassembly will take place at the East Pittsburgh service center in April 2025, with final delivery and onsite installation scheduled for early May 2025. Onsite supervision will be provided during installation and startup. This project reaffirms SMS's trusted partnership with the Tenaris group and strengthens their longstanding relationship in the Tube and Pipe industry.
