As RMTS continues to grow, Jim Petkus from James Steel Tube joins the RMTS team!
Jim’s work history includes 32 years from all aspects of the tube production and operation. Started packaging tubes in 1985, to Mill foreman, then Plant Manager Superintendent and then becoming President and General Manager in 2008.
As he grew into each position he was able to provide increased and improved results through efficiency and profitability, scrap reduction, cost reduction and running a lean operation. Training and developing mill operators and supervisors was key to maintaining continued improvements. Jim is capable of understanding how the customer would be using the product and is able to adjust the product line or shape to fit. Jim is experienced in producing products and shapes including difficult D/T ratios (examples: 7x1-1/4” rectangle x 3/16” wall – 6.625” x .100” wall – 5” x .075” wall) and many other structural sizes, small diameter mechanical in a wide range of gauges and materials. Jim’s experience ranges from small mechanical tube, large structural, conduit, energy and everything in between. You name it, he has most likely run it.
Jim possess that “Can do attitude”. He is an out of the box thinker. He brings years of expertise in steel purchasing, negotiation (vendor – customer - Union) and is also a Member of the Tube and Pipe Producing Council. In 2017 Jim will be the Vice Chair for the Tube and Pipe producing Council.
