Danieli group concentrated again for pipe production equipment at OMK
OMK selected Danieli Group as one partner and the general supplier and integrator for pipe quality control, heat treatment and finishing lines to be installed in the new electric pipe welding shop No.1, at Vyksa Steel Works (VMZ).
The Joint Metallurgical Company (JSC OMK), one of Russia’s largest enterprises in the power, transportation and industrial sectors, signed three contracts with Danieli Group for high-technology manufacturing lines. The equipment will be installed in the newly constructed electric pipe welding shop at VMZ, the largest manufacturer of electric-resistance welded (ERW) steel pipes in Russia and a member of OMK since 1999.
Under these contracts, Danieli (specifically, Danieli Centro Tube and Danieli Centro Combustion) will supply a heat treatment line to quench and temper pipes; a pipe threading line for tubing and casing pipes; as well as a quality control and finishing line for tubing, casing and line pipes. These new lines will allow VMZ to produce pipes with external diameter of 60-177.8 mm, mainly intended for demands of the oil and gas industry.
The key aspect of the design and layout development of the lines are the highest requirements for quality and production output. Each of the lines will be equipped with an automation and tracking system developed by Danieli Automation. Currently, no Russian equipment manufacturer has such a system available. The system will become the basis for the future Level 3 system for all of
VMZ. As an additional challenge for the supplier, the customer requires relatively tight deadlines: all three lines must be commissioned by the end of 2018. Achieving these ambitious objectives will be possible only due to close collaboration by the supplier’s and the manufacturer’s teams.
