AI-based X-Pact® Vision Integrated Operating Center at Daye Special Steel
Center has taken on a key role. An entire plant, from ironmaking to finished product, can be integrated into a central operating center, not only for greenfield factories, but for existing complexes too. The IOC rep- resents the pinnacle of excellence of the production complex, facilitating plant and logistics management by concentrating infor- mation and thereby significantly reducing the required manpower.

plant at Daye Special Steel can be operated with the highest possible degree of automa- tion. The number of discrete control ele- ments across the entire rolling line has been reduced from 550 to only 50. Today, only six operators manage the entire rolling line, instead of 15 previously.
The new IOC and the introduction of auton- omous operation play an important part in improving both product yield and quality. for the communities located around the steel plants.”

Another feature from the field of applied Industry 4.0 in drawing machines was recently successfully integrated into several BÜLTMANN drawing machines.
The vibration measurement, which is able to detect a “chatter” or vibrations individ- ually at each drawing track of a drawing machine, is available both integrated in new plants and as a retrofit kit for used Bültmann drawing machines.
The intelligent control of the vibration meas- urement enables speed control of the drawing
process while avoiding vibrations. The quality of the drawn tubes is 100% ensured with a simultaneous increase in output.
A real application example demonstrates a 60% increase in production with a simulta- neous reduction in scrap towards zero.
In combination with the already known Industry 4.0 features, this is a further step towards an operator-independent, process-safe and performance-oriented drawing machine.
