Review
The conference was well-attended, attract-
ing over 200 participants including govern-
ment officials, distinguished guests, industry
experts, leading entrepreneurs, and media
representatives. Concurrently, Tube China
2024 was held at the Shanghai New Interna-
tional Expo Center from September 25-28,
2024. This year’s exhibition spanned an area
of 28,750 square meters, marking a 64%
increase from the previous edition and a full
recovery to pre-pandemic levels.
Covering the entire industry chain, Tube
China has dedicated itself to creating a pro-
fessional and efficient one-stop platform for
global trade and technical exchanges in the
tube industry. The exhibition attracted over
400 brands from 13 countries and regions,
including Germany, Japan, South Korea,
USA, Italy, Netherlands, Latvia, Norway,
Switzerland, UK, and Taiwan, China, show-
casing a high-level display of innovation and
manufacturing excellence in the tube sector,
enriching both the Chinese market and its
associated supply chains.
The keynote session began with a presenta-
tion titled “Global Tube Market Situation
and Trends”, by Dr. Gunther Voswinckel,
President of the International Tube Asso-
ciation (ITA). Dr. Voswinckel elaborated
on the primary applications of steel pipes
globally, which include sectors like oil and
gas, automotive, construction, mechanical
engineering, and power generation. He
observed that the international landscape
is rapidly changing, affecting the distribu-
tion and growth dynamics of the global
steel pipe industry. Despite ongoing global
conflicts, the challenges and opportuni-
ties for the tube industry differ markedly
across regions. However, emerging markets
such as carbon capture and hydrogen
offer expansive prospects. Dr. Voswinckel
emphasized that continual innovation is
vital for sustainable growth and profitabil-
ity, with Industry 4.0 poised to introduce
further opportunities to the sector.
